As contrived as it sounds, this strip is a true story. The main difference is that Jeff got a fun night out of it, and I did not.
The true setting was Scaramouche, Toledo's trend disco gay bar of the 1980s. One Saturday night I ran across the husband of a female co-worker of mine. He was out cruising. After an awkward moment of recognition, we each went our own way.
The next time I saw him at a staff party, I couldn't help asking, "how's tricks?"
So again you see the job of the writer is to improve upon reality. I hope the punchline of the comic strip works better than my jibe at the party did.
